2019 Summer Academy
Do you like to act, dance, or sing? The Summer Academy is just that! This is your chance to get onstage, share your creative talents, and meet new friends. Never sung, danced, or acted before? That’s okay, too! We can help you learn and feel more confident constage and off!
About the Academy
Participants will learn hands-on about various areas of theatre such as mastering choreography, building their stage presence, developing a character, and other tools to help them grow as actors! Participants of The Summer Academy will audition for and rehearse a show over the course of the camp which they will perform for their family and friends on the final day’s Showcase Performance. This year’s theme is “A Million Dreams” from the hit musical, The Greatest Showman.
The Academy is designed for a wide range of actors, and is split into two sessions. The morning session is for our younger participants ages 6-12, and the afternoon session for those aged 13-17. Both sessions cover some essential concepts, but vary to best engage that particular age group. Both sessions will have a joint performance at the end of the camp.
About the Director
Coral Walker is a veteran of the FCT. In addition to numerous shows, he has volunteered with the Summer Academy for several years and directed the younger camp in 2018. He has also been involved in productions with the Sterling Community Theatre Troupe and Buhler High School. Coral is currently a senior at KU and will graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology this May. He will then venture to the University of Kansas School of Medicine to pursue a degree in medicine. He is excited to share his passion for musical theatre with the Summer Academy participants this year!
